Wild Bathing operates CCTV at The Catalina sauna, Ganavan Beach, Oban, for the purposes of safety, security, and crime prevention.


This notice explains how we use CCTV and how it affects your personal data, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Why we use CCTV


We use CCTV for the following purposes:


To protect the safety of our staff, customers, and visitors To prevent and detect crime, including theft and vandalism To protect our property and equipment


We do not use CCTV to monitor staff performance or for any purpose other than those listed above.


What we record


The CCTV system has two cameras, one covering the front of the sauna and one covering the back. The detection zones are limited to the immediate door and rear areas only. The cameras do not capture the car park or any changing area, and there is no camera inside the sauna itself. The system does not record audio.


Our legal basis for processing


We process CCTV footage on the basis of our legitimate interests in maintaining the safety and security of our premises, staff, and visitors, in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR.


How long we keep footage


We retain CCTV footage for 15 days from the date of recording, after which it is automatically deleted, unless it is needed for a longer period as part of an investigation, legal claim, or request from the police.


Who has access to footage


Access to CCTV footage is restricted to one named individual within Wild Bathing, who accesses footage via the Reolink app linked to the camera system. Footage is only shared with third parties, such as the police, where necessary for the purposes described above or where we are required to do so by law.

Under data protection law, you have the right to:
